Be Upstanding for the
Ghana National Anthem
The Ghana National Anthem, God Bless Our Homeland Ghana, was adopted in 1957 upon independence from British colonial rule and is set to original music of Philip Gbeho. The lyrics were modified and adopted after the 1966 coup.
One of the symbols of this proud country, the Ghanaian national
anthem is definitely back in fashion. Like a lot of anthems this
is mainly due to success in our sporting endervours – particularly soccer.
Black Stars (nick name of the senior national team) fans are having quite a time of late with successes at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and 2008 MTN Africa Cup of Nations fueling the excitement.
